Castle Hill District

Today we bought tickets to go see Rajko Folk Ensemble at the Duna Palota on our last night in Budapest.  We then headed off by bus to investigated the Castle Hill district.  No matter where you look in Budapest there is some sort of statue, decorated or ornate house. The details are amazing..... could spend months here going street by street and still not see all there is to see.  And most of it, other than the statues, is up high on buildings.

Once we reached the district by bus (we saved the walking for the down direction) we started our tour on the northern part of the Castle Hill district and had a lovely lunch in an inner private garden at Pierrot`s.

I tried the traditional Hungarian Goulash and Elda had a fabulous chicken crepe dish (Hungarian name to follow if we remember what it was called).  We still need to try a fresh lango and more more fabulous pastries.  They are so good.

We then took the bus over to the Royal Palace and worked our way back to where we began (near the Mathias Church and the Fisherman`s Bastion.

Arriving later in the day makes a huge difference to the number of other tourists and up in the Castle district there were many day tours happening.  And getting a picture without a couple heads of people you don`t know is quite a challenge.

 

After we toured the Fishermen`s Bastion we headed down the hill for a tour in the Hospital in the Rock, then continued down the hill for our tram home.
